Where do you go once you’ve been hand picked by legendary tastemaker Zane Lowe? Well, naturally the next step is to be featured as a List Pick here on TMR, as is the case ‘Tangerine’ by the Los Angeles up-and-comer Tim Atlas. The track is taken from the seven-track Together Lonely EP, which set to drop on November 8th. ‘Tangerine’ is a sultry, low-key pop track built on woozy guitars, a rich bassline and laidback beats to reflect Atlas’ outward-looking passivity. In fact, his ice-cool appearance is a coping strategy for social anxiety, one that’s deployed by many of us. The core theme of both the single and the video, that of tangerine, is also derived from the young artist’s experience of the word. As he tells us, “People give off different types of energy, and those auras are often associated with specific colours in my head.
